iVolve and IntelliDesign Win 2025 Australian Good Design Award for LX1 Industrial Device
iVolve Technology and IntelliDesign have been recognised at the 2025 Australian Good Design Awards, winning in the Commercial and Industrial category for the iVolve LX1 – an industrial “brain” designed for heavy machinery installations across agriculture, mining, and construction.
The LX1 was designed by IntelliDesign and commissioned by iVolve. It delivers high-volume machine data processing, broad interface capability, and rugged dependability in a low-cost, compact device. The award recognises the product’s excellence in design, innovation, and impact across industrial operations.
Reimagining Industrial Design from Concept to Solution
The LX1 project required a low-cost device that could be widely implemented across fleets and sites previously unable to afford smart hardware. The device needed to be rugged and dependable for continuous operations, simple to install via plug-and-play design, and include visual troubleshooting for support teams.
To meet these requirements, IntelliDesign developed a ground-up design approach, focusing on ease of installation, rugged performance, and simplified troubleshooting for operators. The result was a solution optimised for Australian manufacture and maximising both performance and reliability.

- Injection-moulded enclosure, engineered for durability, IP67 protection, and efficient assembly.
- Compact and lightweight form factor, designed for easy installation in tight spaces.
- Plug-and-play compatibility with previous Nexis devices, ensuring seamless upgrades.
- LED indicators, developed by IntelliDesign for rapid troubleshooting and fault detection.
- Advanced processing and storage: Ti ARM Cortex A9 CPU, 1GB application memory, 32GB data storage.
- Integrated GNSS receiver, LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity.
- Operating range from –40°C to +85°C, built for harsh industrial environments.

The injection-moulded housing enables rapid, durable assembly, while the single PCB design simplifies manufacturing and improves reliability.
