From Concept to Production, LX1 Reaches Its Next Milestone
After two years of design, development, and refinement, the LX1 has officially entered production – marking a significant milestone for both the product and IntelliDesign’s role in bringing it to life.
The LX1 is an industrial hardware platform designed for heavy machinery across mining, construction, and agriculture, acting as a central “brain” that captures and processes real-time data to deliver critical insights into safety, performance, and productivity. Developed in close collaboration with iVolve, IntelliDesign led the end-to-end product development process, transforming a complex, data-driven concept into a scalable, production-ready solution.
From the outset in March 2023, the focus was clear: design a robust, accessible platform that could be deployed across entire fleets. IntelliDesign’s multidisciplinary team worked across industrial design, electronics engineering, prototyping, and validation, ensuring the product was not only functional, but manufacturable and reliable in real-world conditions.
That approach was realised in March 2025, when the first Rev ‘A’ units successfully progressed through production. This milestone validated key design decisions under real manufacturing conditions, confirming performance, quality, and repeatability at scale.
A defining aspect of the LX1 is its accessibility. IntelliDesign engineered the product to be lower cost and easy to install, opening up advanced machine data and safety insights to a broader range of operators, including small to mid-tier mining businesses. Its plug-and-play design, compact form factor, and intuitive interface simplify deployment and use, while its rugged construction ensures consistent performance in harsh environments.
The impact extends beyond individual machines. By enabling real-time visibility across fleets, the LX1 supports faster decision-making, helping reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and enhance on-site safety.
The project has also been recognised at the Australian Good Design Awards, highlighting the balance achieved between technical innovation, usability, and manufacturability – an outcome driven by IntelliDesign’s integrated approach to product development.
Now in production, the focus shifts to optimisation and continuous improvement as the LX1 moves into broader deployment. It stands as a strong example of IntelliDesign’s capability to deliver end-to-end product development – turning complex ideas into reliable, scalable solutions.
